You are invited to come to the library and read to a furry listener on the third Thursday of each month! The concept is simple: participants read to therapy dogs and dogs listen. Learning to read can be difficult but dogs don't mind if a reader stumbles over a word. Dogs just gaze adoringly as they are read to, helping readers gain confidence and skill in a relaxed atmosphere. Research shows that petting an animal also helps lower the stress hormone cortisol. Participants can also borrow some library books and enjoy coloring and activity sheets.
